Go Wildcats!!!!

My my My my

WMS Parents,

My name is Scott Miller and I am the WMS Lacrosse coach for the Spring 2019 Season. I wanted to share a little information about the program as we move into the Spring lacrosse season.

Objectives of the Middle School lacrosse program:

1)  Help the boys develop a love/passion for the game of lacrosse;

2)  Build lacrosse skills, IQ & capabiltieis beyond their current skills during practice and competitive game schedule (approx. 16-20 games a season)

3)  Foster a sense of Family between the Middle School and High School programs (all Weddington Families; Need to work together)

4) Prepare the boys for High School Lacrosse expectations at Weddington (High Standards, Tradition of Excellence, rigorous High school schedule, etc...)

Many of the boys who come out to lacrosse try outs have not played lacrosse before, but are strong athletes. As coaches, we encourage that and look forward to working with anyone who is interested in learning the game, and wants to improve on a daily basis. That said, lacrosse requires a great deal of skill, repetition/practice/attendance, as well as IQ and athletic ability. We look for these things during skills workouts, practices and during games, and reward those who bring the right attitude, effort and leadership to the field each and every day.

We expect a strong turn out for our Spring 2019 season try outs in early February, which should occur around February 2nd or 3rd. (Please be on the lookout for dates/times on this website as we get closer to February....attending tryouts is mandatory)

I will be offering several additional free skill building sessions in January, so please watch this website for dates and times for your son to attend and help build his skills prior to tryouts.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out to me and i will be happy to chat with you regarding the team, the tryout process, schedules, etc..

Thank you for supporting our Weddington Middle School Lacrosse program, and the coaches and I look forward to working with you and our son this season.

Best regards,
Coach Scott Miller
